Title: Research Assistant
Position type: Fixed term contract, full-time, from 29th November 2021 until 14th July 2023
Location: P1vital Products Ltd, Manor House, Howbery Park, Wallingford, Oxfordshire, OX10 8BA (Due to COVID-19, both office-based and remote working will be required initially)
Reports to: Senior Research Clinical Psychologist

Role and responsibilities

We have an excellent opportunity for an individual with an interest in digital research studies, with a focus on the area of digital interventions in mental health. P1vital Products Limited (PPL) is a leader in developing software and products for the pharmaceutical and healthcare sectors. Reporting to the Senior Research Clinical Psychologist, the Research Assistant will be responsible for supporting the clinical research studies evaluating a remotely delivered psychological intervention for ICU staff experiencing intrusive memories of traumatic events from working in the COVID-19 pandemic, a project funded by a Wellcome Trust grant to Professor Emily Holmes. The position will involve:

• Assist the recruitment of appropriate individuals for the clinical research studies
• Assist scheduling participant appointments at the rate needed to meet project deadlines
• Conduct screening and informed consent with participants via phone/video call
• Monitor data completion daily and support participants in the acquisition of outcome data, in particular primary outcome measure
• Potentially assist in delivering the digital intervention
• Assist with monitoring and analysis of study data and study progress
• Maintain adequate records of each subject’s participation, including informed consent, inclusion/exclusion criteria, study activities and adverse events
• Work with the project administrator to assist in organising and storing electronic and paper documents according to study and company protocols
• Work with the project administrator to assist in organising project team meetings, keep minutes, and manage agendas and actions
• Read and follow study protocols and documents with care
• Complete tasks to deadlines and respond to requests/feedback from senior study team
• Report to Senior Clinical Psychologist / the wider study team as appropriate promptly on any clinical, research or administrative issues and particular challenges as they arise
• Work with other study team members and collaborators
• Be based at P1vital offices and attend regular weekly meetings/additional meetings in person as requested
• Be prepared to work flexibly from time to time at evenings and weekends to fit around the needs of study participants
• Receive training in good clinical practice (GCP) and conduct above activities in accordance with ICH E6 (R2) GCP guideline
• Work in accordance with the Company’s Policies and SOPs

Skills and experience

• Undergraduate degree (minimum 2:1) in Psychology or related discipline
• Research experience in psychology and/or mental health
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 including Word, Excel and Powerpoint
• Excellent organisational, planning and time management skills
• Excellent communication skills (both written and oral)
• Positive interpersonal manner
• Ability to work effectively with others
• Ability to learn quickly and respond critical feedback
• Willingness to report challenges at work as and when they arise
• High level of attention to detail and accuracy

• Prior experience of conducting clinical research studies to ICH E6 (R2) Good Clinical Practice standards
• Experience in digital technologies in research
• Ability to conduct literature searches
• Experience of using referencing software (e.g. Endnote or Zotero)
• Good logical and analytical thinking
• Creative problem solving ability
