Dr Gerry Dawson has considerable experience in the discovery and development of novel drugs for CNS disorders. Prior to co-founding P1vital, Dr Dawson was Senior Director and Head of In-Vivo Neuroscience at Merck’s Neuroscience Research Centre. He coordinated both clinical and preclinical efforts in the areas of cognition, cognitive impairment and addiction and directed project teams responsible for drug development to the end of Phase IIB. In this role Dr Dawson developed new Experimental Medicine methods, to make rapid and cost-effective Go/No Go decisions, in collaboration with the Institute of Psychiatry London, the Newcastle Dental School, University of Newcastle, the Department of Psychiatry University of Cambridge, and St. Vincent’s Hospital, Dublin.

Dr Dawson has over 60 scientific publications and is visiting Professor at the Department of Psychiatry, University of Cambridge, the Department of Neuroscience, University of Nottingham and the School of Psychology, University of Ulster. Dr Dawson obtained his undergraduate degree and D.Phil. in Experimental Psychology from the University of Ulster and carried out postdoctoral research in the Department of Experimental Psychology, University of Cambridge.
